Willy Chavarria made his directorial debut during New York Fashion Week with his Fall-Winter 2024 show, SAFE FROM HARM, featuring an eponymous 11-minute short film that explored themes of family, home, religion, and love.
Held at the Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse—home to the designer’s fashion studio—the show’s design mirrored the film’s themes. A kabuki drop revealed a 16-foot projection of the film, serving as a prologue to the collection. At the heart of the set was an altar, where family and cultural vernaculars merged with a reimagined depiction of The Last Supper. Models lined up one by one in tableau, culminating in a final scene of reverence.
